Design experimentation

F I R S T D R A W I N G S

at first i started looking at using a simple grid and repeating it over and over again. I stared to get a very basic pattern, that i did not find very visually interesting at all. I then started to experiment with deconstructing the lines within the pattern, so the pattern wasnt so simple. The pattern started to get a little more interesting but i still wasnt happy with the results i was getting.

After experimenting with my first grid, i decided to try something different. I started to look more at the shapes made within a kalediscope and how intricate they were. I started thinking about making a complicated shape and repeating it multiple times. I started playing around on photoshop, enlarging my drawings, rotating them and layering them over top of each other. I then started to get some interesting results that i was reasonibly pleased with. When i overlapped my shape it started making suprise patterns within the shape.

After looking at one of Angelas books, she passed around the class i decided to experiment with making a pattern in a circular shape. I really like the results this produced, but i thought it would be a bit difficult to write an algorithim for it.

I started experimenting with my origional design. I started cutting parts out of my design and placing the stencil over chalk covered pieces of paper. I then colour photocopied my design, then downloaded it onto photoshop. I then started playing aroinf with it in photoshop, multiplying the shape and layering it over top of eachother.
